Scholarships

THE LUTHERAN SEMINARY SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: This scholarship for any Ascension Lutheran Church member or spouse who is in his/her first, second, or fourth year of attendance at a Lutheran Seminary is non-competitive. This scholarship is renewable. Application must be made annually.

THE LUTHERAN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: This scholarship for Ascension Lutheran Church members is non-competitive. This is awarded to students who will be attending a Lutheran college or university as a full-time student. This scholarship is renewable. Applications must be made annually.

THE JOHN AND MYRTLE BEYER SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: The Beyer scholarship will be awarded annually to one or more Ascension Lutheran Church members who are graduating high school seniors.  This scholarship is awarded to outstanding high school seniors who want to further their education in a vocational school, a college or a university.

THE MARTY HANSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: The Hanson scholarship will be awarded annually to an applicant that is actively involved in a Church Youth Group who has been accepted to a four-year college or has successfully completed the freshmen year at a four-year college.  Although not a firm requirement, preference shall be given to an applicant whose major study preference is business management related to accounting.  Recipients may apply for a second year if they are making normal progress toward a degree.

THE CARLYNN BLANKLEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: The Blankley scholarship will be awarded annually to a prospective junior, senior or graduate student majoring in early childhood development and/or Christian education. Recipients may apply for a second year if they are making normal progress toward a degree.

THE AMY PRUEHER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students who wish to continue their education in a vocational school, college or university.  Financial need and other factors that might prevent a student from continuing their education will be considered.  Recipients can reapply for this scholarship if they are making normal progress toward their stated goal.  If financial assistance is needed a family income statement must accompany the application.

THE MYRNA BEYER ARONSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students who wish to continue their education in a vocational school, college or university.  Financial need and other factors that might prevent a student from continuing their education will be considered.  Recipients can reapply for this scholarship if they are making normal progress toward their stated goal.  If financial assistance is needed a family income statement must accompany the application.

THE MATTHEW WILLIAM MACCARONE SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students who wish to continue their education in a trade school, junior college, or a four-year college/university.  This award is renewable, but must be applied for each year. Other criteria are:

  1. GPA of 2.5 or above
  2. Financial Need: to be accorded equal weight with other factors.
  3. Eligible class levels include:  Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior or Senior
  4. Major: Any
  5. Religion: Active member of Ascension Lutheran Church
  6. Other qualification: Active participation in Ascension Youth Group for at least two years.
  7. Other Conditions: Interview with the scholarship committee may be required.  Verification of GPA required.  Completion of all forms attached with application, including income statement and submissions of two letters of recommendation are required.

THE WILLIS MOERER SEMINARY SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: The Moerer scholarship shall be awarded annually to one or more Ascension Luther Church members that are attending a seminary with the intent of becoming a Lutheran Pastor.

JONATHAN E. DOERING SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: This scholarship will be awarded annually to the one or more Ascension Lutheran Church members attending a Lutheran College or Lutheran University.  Preference will be given to applicants with a major in Athletics.
